About this model family

Anthropic launched Claude in March 2023, first for a small circle, then for everyone that summer. In 2024, Claude 3 invented the three sizes still used today: Haiku (fast), Sonnet (everyday), Opus (the heavy one). The versions kept coming, up to Claude 5 in 2026: Fable and Mythos. The most capable, Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1, arrived on 1 September 2026, Mythos for vetted partners only. The Claude 5.5 family followed: Opus 5.5 on 22 September, Sonnet 5.5 on 28 September and Haiku 5.5 on 7 October.
