Moonshot opened with Kimi K2 in July 2025, weights public. A mode that thinks arrived in November, then versions more and more aimed at code. Kimi K3, today's model, came out on 16 July 2026; in Kimi Code, K2.8 Preview followed on 11 September. For K3.1 the lab has not given a date yet.
